Overview
I recently had a wonderful walk around Frensham Common and Little Pond – I could see the Great Pond in the distance too. The Common is made up of a large area of heathland, together with woodland, and two large ponds, known as Frensham Great and Little Ponds, which were built in the Middle Ages to provide fish for the Bishop of Winchester’s estate.
The site is an SSSI (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) and includes dry heath, wet heath, open water, reedbeds, alder carr and woodland. The heathland is an internationally rare habitat and the common supports a wealth of associated wildlife including sand lizards, Dartford warblers, nightjars, and unusual plants such as the insectivorous sundew.
We saw lots of people bird watching and also photographing the wonderful landscape and wildlife.
Photography Suggestions
Frensham Common is great for those that like landscape and nature photography. With large expansive heathland and plenty of water, there is an abundance of wildlife and will be attractive to those that want to shoot with a wide-angle, telephoto or macro lens. There will also be opportunities to photograph other visitors, dogs and teh comings and goings of a busy outdoor area.
Walking Routes
There is a multitude of winding paths around the Little Pond, where we walked and the wider common and Great Pond.

I visit here quite often now with our dog and friends. Always some great photo opportunities.
